SolarWinds – Lasting Impact on Data Privacy & Third Party Vendor Management

May 5 @ 5:15 pm - 7:00 pm EDT

SolarWinds hack caused one of the most seismic shifts in cybersecurity. Learn about the impact on data privacy and third party vendor mgmt.

Session will begin at 5:30pm.

In this single incident we have seen a convergence of what cybersecurity and data privacy experts have been speaking about for years; namely the terrifying reality of prolonged access to a system and a robust supply chain breach.

One of the most important considerations in cybersecurity does not involve your own direct network security; it involves your partners and vendors. The ease, convenience and cost effectiveness of outsourcing certain business functions frequently overshadows the potential pitfalls lurking in using outside third-parties and vendors.

During this session, Rebecca Rakoski, Managing Partner at XPAN Law Partners, will discuss the following:

  • Legal and regulatory implications as we “unpack” the SolarWinds breach
  • The “reach of the breach” and the legal ramifications in terms of contractual obligations, insurance coverage, and regulatory issues
  • How SolarWinds could impact and influence data privacy and cybersecurity laws/best practices for the future

Rebecca Rakoski is the managing partner at XPAN Law Partners and expert in the area of data privacy and cybersecurity.

Rebecca counsels and defends public and private corporations, and their boards, during data breaches and responds to state/federal regulatory compliance and enforcement actions.

As a litigator, Rebecca advises her clients on a proactive, multi jurisdictional approach to identify and address data privacy and cybersecurity compliance gaps and potential liabilities.
